I wonder if you've seen this at your local bookstore.

There are whole bookshelves devoted to books for "dummies".
Accounting for Dummies. Internet for Dummies. Macrame for Dummies...

There are literally hundreds of titles like this.

But I think we may have finally gone too far...

Today I saw "Ventriloquism for Dummies".

I'm sure I believe you, but it really does sound like a story from Reader's Digest or the old Saturday Evening Post.

Originally, it was a joke, then I saw it was real!

So, not an original joke, but the title of a book by a comic,
a sad one, it appears, about a year in the life of an alcoholic
comedian wannabe.

If it weren't sad, it'd make my joke even funnier!

(which is funny in itself -- or maybe sad, I've lost track)
