Lately I've been noticing a lack of static electricity in places where it seems there should be a lot of it.

Office buildings ... especially after walking on new carpeting and touching a metal doorknob. That's usually good for a big shock. But lately...hardly a buzz.

Weather here around Seattle...warmest January ever...preceded by frigid December. Earthquake in N. California tonight. The warm air this evening..could it be what is referred to as earthquake weather ?

Quote:
Itís a close, oppressive day, perhaps hot and humid, with clouds appearing overhead and no rain in sight. People may look at such a day as typical earthquake weather, a term used to describe weather patterns that suggest an earthquake might be forthcoming.

Beck wrote a song about it:

Quote:
Something's coming sky is purple
Dogs are howling to themselves
Days are changing with the weather
Like a rip tide could rip us away

So, reduced static charge in the ground, warm weather. Mmm....
