This is spam -- that you asked for!

I often read technology magazines online -- or just any type of magazine -- and sometimes when you want to setup a login they ask if you want to receive some free e-news mails, or one day you think you're really interested in foreign policy so you check every CNN International email summary.

Weeks later, you get 5 emails a day from Science magazine, and you wonder -- what was I thinking?! Also, you may be too lazy to go back, login and remove yourself from the email list, or you forgot your password and don't want to have go through the "Click here to send password" bit and so your mailbox piles up with self inflected spam.

Another theory as to the why? Lately my real spam has been much reduced probably due to better policing and things like shutting down port 25 on home computers (mailbots use it ). Although its ridiculous, I think there's something about getting 100 emails a day that make a person feel liked. Then, all of sudden, the spam goes away, or there are only one or two spams. Where's my emails....where's my spam...the panicked person asks himself?

And so...Autospam.
