While getting my hair cut at the local barber, the tonsurial specialist started carping about his neighbor. He said that a year ago his neighbor had asked him if he could park in a space way at the back of his driveway. The barber thought he meant once...for that day. But a year later the neighbor was always parking there.

At first I sympathized, but then asked "is he blocking a customer parking space". No. "Does he make it difficult for you to get in and out?" No. "Is he annoying you in any way?" No, not really.

Then I said "well, maybe some day you will need a truck to help you haul away stuff and you can call a favor on him". He paused and agreed that yes, maybe, someday, he would.

Then I hit a stronger point. "Are you always here?" Here, being his place of business. "No he said". So, I told him that he should be happy his neighbor parks there so that crooks will think twice about breaking in...seeing that truck there all the time.

Then I gave him a big tip. And he was happy.
