Certain phrases seem to pop up in music and I have often thought about them but not long enough to explore or analyze.
For example, for some reason in the 1980s, a lot of songs referred to the "Danger Zone". People were always "in the Danger Zone" or falling in love in the "Danger Zone" or their romance had shifted into the "Danger Zone".
What in God's name is the "Danger Zone" I finally screamed to myself in the car today while driving home listening to the Kenny Loggins song, "Danger Zone".
Then, there's the "Killing Floor". Led Zepplin and other classic rock blues bands keep talking about being "down on the Killing Floor". I suppose these days the kids could look it up on Google, but I'm just too old and tired! What are these musicians talking about -- the Killing Floor?! What is it?? |

Not sure to which area is referred as the danger zone, but the "killing floor" has to be a reference to a slaughterhouse. I suppose it is made more poignant by the allusion to the "dance floor". |
