I think bifocals are designed upside down.
In many cases when I want to see far my head is tilted back, so I'm looking through the nearsighted correction at the bottom. This happens when I'm on my couch or comfy chair looking at TV, or even driving a car with the seat back.
At the same time when I'm using a computer, I'm often looking at the screen head on intently, and close up, but using the farsighted correction.
Seems like a case could be made to reverse the position of each since I believe it's based solely on the idea that people would be looking down their noses when trying to read something close up. |
