There is something amusing in Jack-In-The-Box's latest breakfast offering, the Extreme Sausage sandwich.

Perhaps its that the whole "X" games Mountain Dew para-bike-ski-board thing has finally run its course (I mean, jumped the shark, I mean, nuked the fridge...) Is seeing their slang come down to a entry on the JITB menu is some kind of comeuppance?

Since a burger-sandwich with two patties is hardly "extreme" in this day and age, my mind then focuses on the attitudes of the sausage. Just why is it so "extreme". Did people not listen to it back in the days when it was trying to be more moderate?

It's also an odd hybrid. It doesn't pretend to be breakfasty with a biscuit or muffin enclosure. It's clearly in the burger templated bun. But it's a sausage patty which I think has more fat and salt than a beef patty (at least based on how the veins in my left arm swell when eating one).

Maybe that's part of its extremitude. It just goes all out saying -- I know you really want a burger for breakfast, so here it is...and by the way, it'll make your blood pressure higher than a burger...so there...I know what you want.

The extreme sausage sandwich.

Go for it.

Dude.
