I like juice, but I try to keep spending down, so I usually don't buy
fancy trendy juices. I got me a deal, though, on V8 Fusion brand juice.
Of course, it sounds like something you'd pour into the food processor
in the back seat of your Delorean, but it works for humans too.

It is part of the "disguised product" trend of the last few years, hiding
the (healthy) vegetables in it by highlighting the (tasty) fruits.
Hence the term "fusion".

Being a careful juice label reader (damn those sneaky high fructose
corn syrup vendors), I gave it a close look. None of the corn syrup,
but the vegetables it lists on the ingredients are: sweet potatoes
and purple carrots!

Now, I've never even *heard* of purple carrots before. I'm not
sure I would eat one if offered. But, based on ingredient order,
what I'm really drinking is potato juice.

Not exactly what I was thinking of when I was pondering eating
healthy vegetables. You know, I was thinking of something
green and leafy.

Is this all a conspiracy? Is potato juice healthy in the way that
eating vegetables is healthy? Or is this another effort by the
potato lobby to open up a new market among those who don't
require it to be fermented and distilled first?
