News stories:

Transit service being reduced.
Rhode Island Schools firing entire teaching staff
Detroit Mayor Bing tells whole neighborhoods to move because they will no longer get city services.

It struck me. Is Government getting ready to roll up the awnings? All the while the battle rages about extending and extending (health care) services, in reality, has the bottom dropped out? Seems like to me....any "G-quants" willing to comment?

City removes trash cans, streetlights to save cash

Colorado Springs, Colorado (CNN)

To save money, the city has removed the trash cans.

Need to catch a bus? Don't try on evenings or weekends. The city has cut that service, too.
