Today I bought one of the new Pinetrail chip netbooks -- the ASUS eee 1005PE. The obvious feature is its super long battery life -- some report nearly 14 hours. There's a lot to like about the machine and maybe I'll review it more elsewhere, but something I'm liking right now is the touchpad two-finger gesture.

Many touchpads will have a ribbed area on the right side that can be used to glide your finger on and scroll a web page. This was missing from the 1005PE, and I thought, what an oversight! But then I localed the clear decal I had removed from the pad which had some of the finger gestures.

Turns out they use two fingers quite a bit. For examle, if I drag two fingers vertically along the pad, it does a page up/page down quit nicely. Even more fun is that if I click on a hyperlink with two fingers, it launches it into a new tab -- the classic right mouse button click.

So, an innovation which is not only quite clever...but oh, so much fun!
