This wins...a site that recasts the top news stories in poetic meter:

http://poemnews.com/

Sample verse:

The United States are united in recession,

Atleast thatís whatís visible in the governmentís reaction,

Theyíre forcing AIG to get back the bonuses,

And vow to do same with other Jonases.

Plus they have to pay an equal amount as penalty,

Itís high-time for the big guys to forget their vanity,

and realise the situationís gravity.

That is as bad an example of poetry as I've seen in years.
They need to get better writers. Please tell me it was a computer
that composed it.

Truly.

I think I responded to the concept, not so much the execution.

It's something I would do...if I had three more lifetimes to turn daily politics into iambic pentameter.

We are not on a budget to get writers. The poems or rather jumbled words were written by a human (though in 5 minutes flat!).

I think I responded to the concept, not so much the execution.

Thanks for bringing this up here. I know the execution is BAD, I'm trying to improve it. It will definitely get better as soon as I'm done with getting the site up in the true sense. Basically it all depends on the amount of time I can devote to a post. Also, I do have to put in some facts (It's news afterall) so I do not have the creative freedom we usually have while writing poetry. It is frustrating (Try one and you'll see!).

That is not iambic pentameter.

I never claimed it. This is not poetry at all; these are jumbled words (my father said so Very Happy) to test waters. If the response is good, I'll improve on the poetry aspect.

Thanks a lot guys for your comments and jabailo for starting this thread.
I'm glad for all the criticism!

Please continue and if you could suggest improvements, I'm all ears! Very Happy
I'll look forward to your replies!
