While not defined technically as a spoonerism, I can sometimes get my words all twisted up.

Take for example my poor, dear husband. Looming on the horizon was a huge layoff in his company, his future uncertain, his inner turmoil paramount. As I lay spooned in his arms trying to comfort him, he relates that he really cannot bear to be a failure.

In my mind, I feel that a job change does not constitute failure, and I desperately wanted to relay that encouragement to my dear husband.

"Honey, what does being a failure have to do with changing jobs?" I so eloquently and softly spoke.
Shocked
He hasn't let me live it down since. Laughing
